7 Side Gigs to Earn Extra Cash

Ever have the notion to earn extra cash?  Personally, I am retired, and I'm always looking for ways to make an extra buck or two.  If you want some great gigs to earn a few extra bucks, read on to my favorites below with 7 Side Gigs To Earn Extra Cash.  I have tried each and every one of these, and continue to use them today.

#1  Quick Thoughts Mobile App

Quick Thoughts is a great mobile app that you can earn a little extra money with ease.  This is one of my very favorites, and I use it daily.  Visit the Google Play Store on your mobile device.  It's free to download.  Once you've downloaded it onto your mobile device, and set up your account, you can sign in, and take surveys every day.  The surveys vary as far as topics but only take anywhere from 3 minutes to 25 minutes to take.  You can earn up to $1.00 per survey, and most of the time if you don't qualify, you will earn 10 cents just for trying.  Each time you earn $10.00, you can cash it in and you will get a $10.00 gift card from Amazon.  This app works great if you're looking to save for something high-priced that you've always wanted to buy on Amazon, but didn't have the cash on hand.  To date, and over the last several months, I have over $100.00 saved on my Amazon gift card balance!

#2  Survey Savvy & SavvyConnect

This app can be used on either your desktop or your mobile appIt's free to sign up.  I prefer to use it on my desktop because the surveys can be navigated a lot easier.  The only catch is, you need to first "qualify" for these surveys, and finish them before earning anything.  These surveys can run from $1.00 to $5.00 per survey.
This app also has another perk called SavvyConnect.  For each device you put it on and keep it on, you can make a passive income of $5.00 per device per month!  Not a bad deal, if you happen to be saving for a rainy day!  But should you choose not to load it on your devices, you can still sign-on, and take surveys only, from your desktop.
Another incentive on this website is that you can also earn money from referring people to Survey Savvy.  If they sign up and take surveys, for every survey they complete you make a little cash.  And if they refer people, and those people sign up and complete surveys you make a little cash as well!

#3  CrowdSurf  (Captioning Services)

This service allows you to type, captioning and transcribing video and audio files.  I love to type, so I use this one a lot.  It's an easy way for you to earn extra money if you type, or have transcribed at all in previous jobs.  And even if you haven't transcribed on any previous jobs, all you have to do is pass their transcription test within a site called Work Market, which is linked with Crowdsurf.  Jobs pay anywhere from .05 cents to 0.19 cents for just 15-25 seconds of work!  You could realistically do 75-100 small typing jobs per day, and earn possibly $15 a day.  They pay you through Work Market (which requires a separate login), but once you go in and set up your payment preference, any work you do is transferred to your account within Work Market, and all you have to do is log in and click on "withdraw" cash.  They pay through either Payoneer or Paypal.  I use Paypal a lot as well, so that choice works for me.

#4  Appen (Falcon) (Desktop)

This website is great to use, because each time you do a research project, they will pay you $5.00.  Most projects only take about 10 minutes of your time, so not bad pay for the 10 minutes you spend right?  I have only done about two or three research projects with them, mostly research regarding Facebook, but their projects are not very intensive, so why not give it a shot?  This one also pays you through either Payoneer or Paypal.  When setting your account up, you can specify which way you want to get paid.

#5  Declutter (Desktop or Mobile App)

This one will pay you for music CDs and books that you want to get rid of.  I mean, if you need to get rid of stuff, why not get paid for it?  The payout is somewhat minimal, but I believe they pay the shipping cost for you to send your package to them.  You can go here to register, and once you are registered you can set up your profile, and opt for either a deposit into your bank account directly, or have them send you a paper check.

#6  Ibotta (Rebate Mobile App)

This mobile app is the rebates app that I use from my mobile device every time I go to the store.  You can find and download it for free from the Google Play Store.  Do a one-month grocery shopping trip and you can really get some fairly good profits back!  To date in the last three years, I've earned over $300 with this app.  It's a great app that I use as a savings account for birthdays, Christmas, or whenever I need a few extra bucks.  As soon as you set up your account

#7  CheckOut 51 (Rebate Mobile App)

This is another great rebate app that I use on my mobile phone.  It can also be downloaded from the Google Play Store for free.  This one has a slightly different layout than Ibotta does, but you can still save a little bit of cash for a rainy day.  Just like Ibotta, once you reach $20, you can cash it out, and they will mail you a paper check.  All the savings can add up to more money saved for sure!  I've saved over $100.00 on this app in the last couple of years.

This is only a handful of side gigs you can use to make extra cash.  There are hundreds of others out there, just waiting for you to find them.  So if you're interested in making a few bucks here and there, it can all add up in your savings account for a rainy day!  Happy Gig-hunting!

Staying Positive When Life Gives You Lemons

This post contains affiliate links.

Okay, so maybe at this stage of the game, life has done nothing but deal you lemons.  Sometimes life can be a real pain to deal with when one thing after another is being thrown at you.  Do you sometimes ask yourself, how can I be a more positive person, when life really sucks at this moment?  I sometimes ask myself that question when I'm stressed and wrung out by life in general.  Staying positive when you don't feel like it, is not an easy task for everyone.  But here's what I discovered in my quest to Staying Positive When Life Gives You Lemons.

 Practice Self-awareness

How do you become more aware of your negative thoughts?

It's so easy to get caught up in negative thoughts.  Before you know it there's a whole negative conversation going on in your head.  You didn't mean for it to happen, but it's been heavily ingrained in you in time.  But once you realize what's happening, you can take steps to change it.  This is self-awareness.  Realizing that you have negative thoughts, helping yourself to change that thinking, and eventually positive thoughts will emerge!

Work on becoming a positive person

So how can you become a more positive person?

This has to be the number one question that everyone has asked themselves from time to time.  Staying positive when life gives you lemons, is not the easiest thing to do.  The best way to do this is to train yourself to have positive thoughts available to counteract the negative.  The way I work on staying positive (and believe me I am a work in progress!) is to think about all the things I have been blessed with.  Thinking about all the things you have been blessed with goes a long way toward bringing your mood up.  Positive thinking takes work though.  So don't get discouraged if this doesn't happen right away.  You have to retrain your thoughts a little at a time, and the positive thoughts will come soon.

Put stickies up on the bathroom mirror with positive thoughts for self-confidence

How do you build up your self-confidence?

A world of sticky notes with messages of positive thinking is a great way to build your self-confidence.  It really can put you in a better mood when you have positive messages to read each morning.  Write uplifting positive messages on your sticky notes, and they can really lift your mood up.  Just remember, when you feel those negative thoughts creeping in, all your positive messages are just a walk down the hallway!

Research positive messages to use as screensavers on your computer

How do you find those positive messages?

Search Google for quote websites, or positive quotes, et cetera, and you will find a plethora of ideas and quotes that you can download and save to your computer.  I have a folder on my desktop with positive quotes in it, that I use for screensavers on my desktop computer.  This way if you are on your computer every day, you will be sure to read the positive message that is sure to help lift you up!

Listen To Music

What kind of music should you listen to in order to become positive?

When you seem to be in a negative kind of mood, sometimes you don't really think music will help.  But trust me, it really does!  Music has gotten me through the most trying times of my life.  Most any kind of music you decide to listen to really lifts up your spirit and your mood.  Especially if you find some music you can really sing along to!  Nothing wrong with belting out a tune to put you in a better mode of positive thinking!  And what the heck!  Add some dance moves to that singing, and your positivity will definitely emerge!

Surround Yourself with Positive People

How do you surround yourself with positive people?

Sometimes this is not an easy task, but in time, it can happen.  Sometimes you find that the people you are surrounding yourself with, are always talking negatively.  Maybe they aren't exactly being supportive of the things you want to accomplish in your life.  The best way to separate yourself from them is to do it gradually.  Take your sights in a different direction.  Look for people who are on the road to success.  These people have positive attitudes and talk about what they see in their futures.  Being around a positive person can really lift your mood, and steer you in a more positive direction, as well as positive thinking.

Read Positive Books

What kinds of positive books do you find to read?

Find books that are focused on self-improvement or a positive story of success.  These kinds of books are always uplifting.  They can really put you in a better frame of mind when you are reading about someone else's road to success and how they accomplished it.  Reading about someone else's success is a good message to always stay positive and have a positive attitude for success.  Positive stories always send the message that you have the power to change your way of thinking.

Develop a Positive Mantra

How do you go about developing a positive mantra?

Meditating is a great way to positive thinking.  Develop a positive mantra to recite during meditation, and meditate on it at least 10 minutes each day.  Develop a phrase that you repeat over and over again.  A phrase that is positive to help you go in that direction, (i.e., I will accomplish my goals for today, I am able to do whatever I set my mind to, et cetera).  Positive mantras during meditation are a great way to clear your head and empty out all those negative thoughts.

Bring Laughter To Yourself at the End of Each Day

How do you find something to laugh about?

We've all heard the phrase "Laughter is the best medicine" and it really is when you think about it.  Usually, for me, it's going through programs I have recorded on my DV-R.  I find just one half-hour show to watch and laugh out loud for those few minutes.  It really helps you to leave all your worries behind for the day, and sleep better as well.

Practice Gratitude

What if you cannot think of anything to be grateful for?

We can always find something to be grateful for in our lives, no matter what we're going through.  Even though you may be going through a storm in your life, you can always be grateful for what you do have.  Being grateful for the things you have in your life, such as your spouse, your kids,  a roof over your head, food in your cupboards, et cetera.  These are the things we have to be grateful for, among others.  So practice being thankful for the things you do have, and don't dwell on what you don't.

Positivity is your key to success

Staying positive when life gives you lemons, isn't always easy.  But it will come eventually when you practice each day.  And with a little laughter at the end of the day, you're already ahead of the game.  So put some positive thoughts into each day, and you'll feel more confident and ready to tackle the day!  Try it, and you'll be surprised at how much better you'll feel when you think positive!
