3 Ways to Get Organized When Moving

Hello Friends!  Ever try moving, or relocating with the holidays just around the corner? The holidays alone are hectic, but what if moving is a necessity right now?  Here are the answers you need in my 3 Ways to Get Organized When Moving so you stay organized in all the hustle bustle!

#1  Coordinate a List of Creditors To Contact

Making a list of your creditors can be a daunting task.  But once this detail is taken care of, things run much smoother.  It's easier to take care of this task before you start packing.  It will help your creditors find you easier once you're settled in.  In addition to this, you will be able to pay your bills smoothly without a lot of hassle.  Creditors usually appreciate being paid on time, despite your address changing.  And it will help them to have the information ahead of time as well.  All you need to record is the Business Name and a column for "how" you updated your address.  There are several choices for that now, either online, phone, or snail mail.  You will also need a column for additional Notes.  This way you can move down the list, quickly complete it, and move on to other organizational things.

#2   Organize a List of Utilities to Call

Here you will probably need to do a little research and make some phone calls.  This will help you find the contacts in your new city or state to set up your utilities.  Make notes as you research, and write them down. as this will help you to remember the details of when utilities are turned on or off.  Make one list for the current address, and one for the future address to keep track of the status of each.

#3  Contact Your Local Moving Company

Make sure you contact your local moving company to organize a visit ahead of time.  This way you can get a quote of cost for your household being moved to the new location.  They will want to do a walk-thru of your home to see what is expected of them.  This is the time for you to tell them anything they might need to know regarding your appliances, furniture, et cetera.  Be sure to let them know any other things you want them to give special attention to.  Make sure you take notes when they visit and organize them on your utility list at the bottom.

Moving can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be.  If you are well organized before the actual move date, things will run a lot smoother.  That way you can get on with the important task of packing!
